What is a Strategic Retreat?

Strategic Retreat is a private, two-day planning session designed specifically for your firm. Held in premium out-of-town locations, it’s a chance to step away from the day-to-day and focus on the big picture with expert guidance.

Over two focused days, we’ll critically assess your firm, dive deep into your numbers, ask the hard questions, and work through the strategic decisions that really matter. You’ll leave with a clear one-page strategic plan, aligned priorities, and renewed clarity on where your firm is headed — and how to get there.

The retreat is fully tailored to your business. No distractions. Just time, space, and structure to do the work that drives real progress.

Facilitators

Manoli Aerakis

Manoli isn’t your typical accounting firm owner.

With a background in banking, he saw a huge opportunity — accounting firms had deep, trusted relationships with their clients, but often failed to fully leverage them. That insight led him to found Malloch McClean Tasman, which later merged with Crux to become Go Accounting, a multi award-winning firm based in Nelson.

Alongside his role at Go Accounting, Manoli also runs a specialist business brokerage focused on buying and selling accounting practices, and works one-to-one with firms across the country to help them grow, evolve, and unlock more value.

Michael Parker

Michael co-founded the startup accounting firm Crux in 2018, growing it to a team of 10, winning Xero’s Small Firm of the Year Award, and being recognised by CA ANZ as one of New Zealand’s top four emerging firms.

In 2023, Crux merged with Malloch McClean Tasman to form what is now Go Accounting.

Michael’s entrepreneurial mindset has driven the development of several ventures under the Go brand, including Tax Rescue, Go Marketing, and Momentum Partners. Outside of the firm, he serves as a Regional Councillor for CA ANZ and is a director of the Tasman Rugby Union.

Time Commitment: 1 day prep, and 2 days in session
Venue: Generally held out of town at premium venues
Price: $10,000+GST plus travel and accommodation costs
